I offer gardening consultation sessions to suit both yourself and your garden. Whether you'd like to refresh the layout of your garden, take action to increase wildlife or garden health or if you'd like to refine your vegetable growing techniques, get in touch to find out how I can help you through a one to one session.
Examples of themed gardening consultations are described below, but each session will be tailored to your specific requirements and can blend together any topics you'd like support with.
Wildlife Gardening Consultation
During a wildlife gardening consultation, I work closely with you to find methods that work both for your local wildlife networks, but also for you and your particular style of gardening. With a background in ecology and over ten years experience as a natural gardener, creating gardens for wildlife, I can advise on specific measures that can be taken in your garden to make it a haven for local wildlife. I also understand that different people's interpretations of the term 'wildlife garden' is hugely variable, with some preferring well kept beds and borders, filled with wildlife friendly plants and neat habitat options, while others are happier letting nature take the lead and delight in a wilder, less controlled style. If need be, I'll help you tease out what your style is and together, we'll work out a plan that is just right for you.
Vegetable Gardening Consultation
Growing organic vegetables is where I began and it remains my favourite thing to do in the garden. Whether you want help getting started with growing vegetables, or whether you would like support to improve your technique, these one to one gardening consultations are a great way to get tailored support for the vegetables you want to grow, in the space you have available. I can help with planning the vegetable year and with organic and regenerative techniques for propagation, planting out, plant health, water and weed management and with making excellent compost. I am available for one off sessions and can also be booked for regular slots throughout the year.
Garden Design Consultation
Having previously worked as a professional garden designer, I've found that an often more interesting, enjoyable and also more cost effective approach for you is to work one to one in generating plans and ideas for your garden together. This can work well as a one off consultation session to give you lots of inspiration and ideas to get you started. You always have the option to progress on to my mentoring service, through which we can gradually evolve a design over a longer period of time.
Working together on your garden design, we can look at anything from refreshing the layouts of individual beds, to completely reorganising the flow and feel of your garden. We can talk about working with colour, texture and structure, we can look at the coherence of your current design and how to improve it and we can talk about beautifully integrating functions and features that you don't yet have, but would love to include. Working in this way, you'll not only gain a more beautiful garden, but you'll also pick up lots of skills that you can use again and again to refresh your garden design over the years.
