This flexible weekend course covers everything you need to know to get ready for the growing season, including what to grow, when to grow it, where to put it all and what supporting features the garden will need. For beginner and intermediate growers.

The course has been designed to fit around a normal weekend's activities and should take no more than 2-3 hours per day. Be as flexible as you like with the pace though, as it is entirely online, with videos and handouts that can be viewed whenever you like. Pay once and enjoy lifetime access to these materials.

Course Structure

Class materials are taught via an online platform that leads you through course handouts, video demonstrations and a series of set tasks.

Day 1

During the first day, we will look at what to grow and when to grow it. By the end of this day, you will have a clear idea of the vegetables you'd like to grow for the year and will understand how to organise successional sowing to give yourself a long season of home grown veg. You will also learn techniques for keeping your seeds seamlessly organised to make keeping up with your sowing schedule a piece of cake as the year progresses.

Day 2

On day two, we'll be looking more closely at your growing space. I'm going to run through the key features that every organic vegetable garden needs and we'll go through the layout of your beds, tweaking your design if need be, or even setting one up from scratch, so that everything works towards maximising the health and easy maintenance of your space. We'll use your vegetable wishlist from day one to draw up planting plans for this year's growing and I'll explain how to use these plans to form the basis of a future crop rotation - the secret to avoiding build ups of pests and diseases in your soil.

You'll finish your course with a list of vegetables all worked out and ready for you place your seed order. You will have a clear seed sowing schedule and a planting plan of your patch. You will also have a task list for any garden prep that is needed to make sure you have all those garden features set up. The work you put in on this course will be rewarded for years to come, with a seamless set of plans that can be used over and over again for year round home grown veg.
